Larry Mitchell, DVM

Dr. Mitchell graduated in 1973 from Purdue’s vet school.  He has been at Avalon Animal Clinic since it opened in 1979, owning the practice for the majority of that time.  He is the ultimate outdoorsman, enjoying both rod and fly-fishing.  He also judges field trials and competes in them with his English Setters.  Dr. Mitchell is married and has twins.  His son is in the Marine Corps, and his daughter is a registered veterinary technologist that is an instructor at the Vet Tech Institute at International Business College.


Shannon Kiley, DVM

Dr. Kiley is also a Purdue graduate, and has worked part time for Avalon for since 2002.   She enjoys entering her three flat coat retrievers in hunt tests and obedience competitions. When she’s not working with her dogs, she can be found working at the barn with her hunter/jumper horse. She also has a special interest in canine/feline behavior.



Dr. Kathy Huber

Dr. Huber came to us from Michigan and began working at the clinic in May of 2008. She received her DVM from Michigan State University in 2002. She and her husband enjoy walking their dogs, spin class, and watching movies together.

 

Carmen Temple

Carmen is still here!  She has been at Avalon since the clinic opened in 1979!  She has been married for 20 years to her husband Dave, and has a son Evan, who is now 14 years old.  She spends most of her “free time” taking care of her animals and going to Evan’s soccer games.  She is very active in raising and showing longhaired Guinea Pigs.  She plans to be able to start showing her Chinese Crested “Zora” this fall. 


Chris Hopkins

Chris has worked for Avalon Animal Clinic since 1996.  Chris and her husband John have a daughter named Tara. She has 3 dogs, a Doberman, and 2 Chinese Cresteds.  In addition, she also has several different exotic pets including turtles, geckos, and frogs.  She also breeds and shows long-haired Guinea Pigs with Carmen.  It is a rewarding but very time-consuming hobby for her.

 


Susan Dobson
Susan has been at Avalon for over 20 years. You will only see her here on Saturday mornings, but can catch her at dog shows, showing her English Cockers. Susan enjoys long bicycle trips with her husband, Terry

Anita Torres

Anita has been working at Avalon since September 2003.  She takes care of the boarders and helps out anywhere else in the clinic that is needed.  She enjoys her 2 dogs, 2 parakeets, a cat, and some tropical fish.  Her son and daughter keep her entertained, as well as some favorite activities like reading, playing games and doing artwork. 


Terri Gedek

Terri has been working at the front desk since the spring of 2006, but has worked in the veterinary field since 1992.  She is very active with Ridgeback Rescue of the US and manages the rescue store at  www.rrus.org.  She often fosters Rhodesian Ridgebacks in her home and has two of her own.  In her spare time you will often find her in her studio, sewing or doing embroidery.  She also enjoys travel, boating, and photography.  Terri is married with 3 children and 4 grandchildren.


Kristi Jordan

  Kristi started working at Avalon in the spring of 2006.  You will see her throughout the hospital, working as a receptionist, kennel attendant and training as a technician.  She is currently enrolled in the Veterinary Technology Distance Learning Program through Purdue University.  When not working or studying, she enjoys reading mysteries and running.  She is currently training for a marathon!  Kristi is married and has 2 dogs and 2 cats.

 


Jeanne’ McClung

Jeanne’ has been working at Avalon for 1 ½ years as a technician, with 6 years of technical experience.  She graduated from International Business College with a medical assistant diploma, but her passion for animals led her to work in the veterinary field.  Jeanne’ has 1 dog and 4 cats.  She enjoys spending time with her 6 year old daughter and 1 year old son.  Although all animals are loved by Jeanne’, she loves her dachshunds the most.


Baranda Pierce

Baranda Pierce has been working at Avalon since October 2007, but has been in the animal field since 1997.  She enjoys spending time with her husband and their 2 daughters.  In her free time she likes eating good food, listening to her husband’s band Chained Fate, and being with her 3 dogs, especially her Chihuahua “Taquito”.
